Launched in July 1973 as the Hoverservice, two HM.2 sidewall hovercraft ran tourist and commuter routes between Greenwich, Tower Pier, and Westminster, supported by £100,000 in GLC/DOE grants. Despite operating for 15 months and moving around 250,000 passengers, the venture struggled: low commuter fares, inflation, noise complaints, and debris fouling the skirts plagued operations. The Greater London Council pulled funding in October 1974, shutting it down
