Just outside Callander in the tiny hamlet of Kilmahog, the Kilmahog Woollen Mill—also known as the Trossachs Woollen Mill—stands as a charming reminder of Scotland’s rural textile past. Nestled beside the A84 and set against the backdrop of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, the mill has long been a popular stop for travellers exploring the Highlands.
Originally a 19th-century corn mill, the site was later converted into a woollen mill. Today, it retains several of its original features, including an under-shot waterwheel, gearing system, and historic buildings. Though the weaving demonstrations that once ran using water power ceased in the early 2000s, the mill’s unique industrial character is still visible and has earned it Category C listed status.
