Woolworth House, Marylebone Road seen in 1974. This was built in the mid-1930s as a London office building for F. W. Woolworth & Co., reflecting the chain’s rapid expansion and growing corporate presence in Britain during the inter-war years. ts location on Marylebone Road, one of London’s busiest arterial routes, placed it close to both the West End and the City, and alongside other large commercial and institutional buildings developed along the road in the early 20th century. Following the decline and eventual collapse of Woolworths in the UK in 2008, the building passed into other commercial use, reflecting the broader shift away from single-company headquarters towards mixed office and redevelopment schemes along Marylebone Road.
