This authentic 1970s colour photograph, captured in 1975, features the primary facade of the White Rock Pavilion in Hastings, East Sussex, as seen from the adjacent Hastings Pier. The archival image documents the pavilion’s distinct 1920s architecture, characterized by its symmetrical grey and white exterior, arched windows, and twin hipped roofs with red Mediterranean-style tiles. The entrance canopy clearly displays the “WHITE ROCK PAVILION” title, while strings of festive lights are draped across the open concrete forecourt. To the left, a portion of the “Hastings Model Railway” building is visible on the pier deck, alongside a red post box and pedestrians in mid-1970s attire. The composition is framed by the ornate white iron railings and weathered wooden decking of the pier in the foreground. This factual record preserves the architectural appearance of this landmark entertainment venue during the mid-1970s, prior to its later rebranding and refurbishment as the White Rock Theatre.
