Western Avenue in Park Royal, London W3, in the 1960s, seen from the top of the Art Deco brick tower at Park Royal Underground station and looking east across the industrial landscape. The view shows the broad dual carriageway of the A40 cutting through factories, warehouses, yards and commercial buildings, with period cars, vans and lorries moving through one of west London’s major industrial districts. Visible details include the Standard building on the right, the KP sign in the middle distance and the extensive rail and factory infrastructure around Park Royal. Much of this landscape has since been demolished or redeveloped, making the photograph a valuable record of Western Avenue before later changes transformed the area.
