Housed in what the official fair guide described as a “tropical redwood building,” the Venezuela Pavilion blended cultural celebration with economic promotion. Inside, visitors encountered a lively programme of dancers, musicians, and artists representing the country’s traditional and modern identity. At the same time, the pavilion also served a diplomatic and commercial function: fair literature noted that “leading businessmen are on hand to discuss commercial opportunities in the country.”
Exhibits highlighted Venezuela’s rapid postwar industrial growth, petroleum wealth, and expanding tourism sector, while performances and crafts provided a more expressive cultural narrative. Like many Latin American pavilions at the fair, it sought to present Venezuela as both culturally rich and economically forward-looking—rooted in tradition yet poised for modern development.
