This view was taken from the pedestrian bridge linking the main exhibition area to the Transport Zone. Straight ahead is the Transportation & Travel Pavilion, a sprawling two-story complex filled with exhibits from airlines, railroads, steamship companies, trucking firms, tourist bureaus, and major branches of the U.S. military. It was one of the fair’s most wide-ranging showcases, covering everything from commercial aviation and passenger rail to futuristic concepts and worldwide tourism.
The bridge still exists today, though the site of the pavilion has changed significantly. The space where the T&T Pavilion once stood is now used as staff parking for the Queens Zoo, with no visible trace of the massive indoor exhibition hall that once filled this section of the fairgrounds.
