This 1971 photograph shows Tower Bridge from the River Thames, with one of its great Gothic-style towers rising above the bascules and a yacht moored in the foreground. Behind the bridge, cranes dominate the skyline as the Tower Hotel is under construction, capturing a moment when this stretch of the riverside was beginning to change through large-scale modern redevelopment.
