This authentic 1950s colour photograph captures the exterior of The White Lion public house, located at 37 Brook Street at the junction with Gilbert Street in Mayfair. The image showcases the corner-situated building with its cream-coloured facade and prominent “Charrington’s Toby Ale and Stout” signage above the ground floor. A distinctive heraldic white lion is depicted on a green sign between the windows of the upper floors. Outside the entrance, two men in traditional dark uniforms and caps are seen in conversation, while a woman in a winter coat walks past the left side of the building near a vintage car. This pub, which has since closed, served the Mayfair area for generations.
