This 1989 photograph shows the Dog & Fox on High Street, Wimbledon SW19, the well-known Young’s pub standing prominently in Wimbledon Village with its distinctive mix of red brickwork, white-painted frontage and ornate pub signage. The large hanging sign and ground-floor boards advertise bar food and fine bitters, while parked outside is a white delivery lorry for Eplan modular display shelving, also carrying the name Eustal aluminium showcases on its side. The blue street sign for High Street, Wimbledon SW19 is visible in front of the building, fixing the location clearly, and the combination of local landmark architecture, passing trade traffic and commercial signage makes this a strong everyday record of Wimbledon Village in the late 1980s.
