Located at 693 Wandsworth Road, The Artesian Well has a rich and varied history. Originally opened in 1876 as The Nag’s Head, the pub was a familiar local fixture serving the Clapham and Battersea communities.
In the late 1990s, it was transformed into The Artesian Well, a nightclub with a striking interior designed by sculptor Rudi Weller. The venue became known for its vibrant nightlife, hosting themed events and drawing crowds from across London.
However, due to local concerns over noise and disturbances, The Artesian Well closed as a nightclub in 2014. Since then, the building has been undergoing redevelopment into a gastro pub and residential flats, with plans to preserve its historic character.
