This 1998 view shows a tall Texaco forecourt sign advertising far more than fuel, with panels for News & Mags, Nescafé Coffee Break, The National Lottery and Post Office above the fuel prices below. Unleaded is listed at 66.9 pence per litre, 4 Star at 75.9 and diesel at 67.9, neatly dating the photograph to the late 1990s, when leaded petrol was still available but already on the way out. The lower section is crowded with period payment and fuel-brand logos, reinforcing how petrol stations were becoming broader convenience stops rather than simple filling stations. More than a straightforward price board, the image captures a very recognisable late-1990s roadside scene, when fuel, lottery tickets, coffee, magazines and postal services were all being folded into the same forecourt stop.
