Designed to evoke the traditional architecture of West Africa, the Republic of Guinea’s pavilion consisted of three stylized huts arranged around a central courtyard space. Inside, visitors found a mix of cultural presentation and national promotion. As the official guidebook described it, “Three African huts house industrial displays, souvenirs and a theater-restaurant.”
The exhibits highlighted Guinea’s natural resources and post-independence development, while the theater-restaurant offered live music, dance, and Guinean cuisine—an experience many visitors remembered more vividly than the industrial displays. Like several of the African pavilions at the fair, it blended tourism, culture, and nation-building, presenting a newly independent country to an international audience with pride and optimism.
