This authentic 1960s colour photograph documents a local transport scene in the slate-mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, Merionethshire. The archival image features a grey and red coach operated by T. F. Parry, trading as Regina Coaches. The vehicle, registered DFF 476, is a Ford 570E with a Plaxton Consort IV body that was new to the fleet in March 1960. Standing in front of the coach is a large group of schoolboys in traditional mid-century attire—short trousers, shirts, and woollen jumpers—accompanied by a female teacher in a patterned dress. To the right of the group, a grey Fordson E83W van is parked on the gravel lot. The background includes a dark green corrugated metal industrial building, typical of the town’s utilitarian architecture. This factual record captures a specific moment in the history of Welsh independent coach operators and school life as it appeared in the 1960s.
