This striking 1980s view on Queen Victoria Street shows a long-surviving bomb-damaged building in the City of London, its scarred flank still bearing the patched brickwork, blocked openings and rough surfaces left by wartime destruction. Cleary Garden lies to the right, creating an unexpected pocket of greenery beside the battered structure, while the view looks north-east towards Mansion House station. At street level, the contrast between the damaged upper wall and the occupied ground-floor frontage makes the scene all the more remarkable, showing how fragments of the Blitz could remain embedded in the everyday post-war city for decades. The building has since been demolished and the site redeveloped, making this a valuable record of one of those last visible pieces of wartime damage still surviving in the Square Mile.
