Progressland Theatre inside the General Electric Pavilion at the New York World’s Fair in 1964, showing one of the Carousel of Progress domestic scenes with a modern kitchen, appliances, dining furniture and a small Christmas tree. The show was created by Walt Disney and WED Enterprises for GE, using Audio-Animatronics figures and a rotating theatre system to tell the story of electrical progress in the American home. After the fair, the attraction moved to Disneyland in 1967, before reopening at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in 1975, where Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress still operates today. This color photograph captures the attraction in its original World’s Fair setting, before it became one of Disney’s longest-running theatre-style shows.
