This authentic 1960s colour photograph captures the sleek, functionalist exterior of New Scotland Yard at 10 Broadway in 1969. Serving as the headquarters for the Metropolitan Police from 1967 until 2017, this modernist complex represented the force’s mid-century move toward contemporary urban facilities. The image features the iconic “New Scotland Yard” silver-lettered sign mounted on a grey turntable in the foreground, with two men in suits walking briskly across the plaza. The background is dominated by the repetitive grid of the building’s glass and concrete facade, showing office workers visible through the large windows.
