the Mormon Pavilion was one of the more distinctive structures at the World’s Fair. Its sharply vertical, modernist design and tall spire made it visible from long distances and immediately recognisable in photographs and postcards of the era.
Inside, visitors could explore exhibits on the church’s beliefs, view displays about the early pioneers, and hear performances from the famed Tabernacle Choir. It was designed as both a place of information and quiet reflection, standing in noticeable contrast to many of the fair’s louder, more commercial attractions.
Its three distinctive towers were ¾-scale replicas of the east end of the Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City, making it one of the more recognisable landmarks near the main entrance.
The site where the pavilion once stood is now part of the Flushing Meadows Pitch & Putt golf course.
