The Minnesota Pavilion promoted the state as both a centre of industry and a pristine outdoor destination. Inside, visitors encountered exhibits on forestry, agriculture, mining, and manufacturing—demonstrating Minnesota’s importance to America’s growing post-war economy. One of the most memorable features was the simulated canoe ride, where fairgoers drifted past dioramas of lakes, wildlife and forests, evoking the state’s famed boundary waters and wilderness regions.
The pavilion also offered a large restaurant showcasing Minnesota-style cooking, including an impressive buffet with over 100 dishes. Part tourism advert, part industrial showcase, Minnesota’s exhibit aimed to convey a simple message: the state combined natural beauty with modern prosperity.
