Shops and kiosks at street level include Midland Bank, Rothmans, a newsstand piled with magazines and papers, and signage pointing to the Times Centa Cinemas. In the road are several strong period details, including a black London taxi, a white Kay’s Quality Meats Patisserie van, and the rear of a red double-decker bus on route 18 to Deptford Broadway. It is a wonderfully busy central London street scene, full of the ordinary commercial clutter and heavy traffic that defined Marylebone Road in the early 1970s.
