Flashman’s closed in 1964, and the building was later demolished as part of wider redevelopment, altering the scale and character of this side of Market Square. To the right is a longer residential and commercial block with balconies, reflecting post-war rebuilding and the changing priorities of the town centre.
A planted traffic island sits at the centre of the road, while pedestrians and period saloon cars move through the junction, capturing everyday life in Dover during the mid-1950s, before later clearance and redevelopment reshaped much of the surrounding area.
