This 1980s view looks towards Marble Arch across one of central London’s broadest and most traffic-dominated junctions, with the white monument framed by hotels, trees and modern commercial buildings. At the centre of the scene is an open-top Ebdon’s sightseeing bus, a Daimler Fleetline carrying registration THM 710M, heading through the junction on one of the company’s London tours. To the left, the red Odeon sign is visible on the tall modern block behind the Underground entrance, while the road itself is marked by wide lanes, central barriers, speed-limit signs and a sparse flow of period traffic that gives the whole scene a distinctly late twentieth-century feel. It is a strong record of Marble Arch before later changes to tourist operations and surrounding buildings, when private sightseeing buses like Ebdon’s were still a familiar part of the West End streetscape.
