Walking in from the main entrance, one of the first major sights was the RCA Pavilion. Inside, visitors could watch live broadcasting demonstrations and even see themselves on color television — a novelty in 1964 when most homes still had black-and-white sets.
The unusual white, bubble-like structure belonged to The Brass Rail, one of 25 fast-food outlets operated by the company across the fairgrounds. These distinctive “marshmallow roofs” made them easy to spot for hungry visitors. Prices were very 1960s: hamburgers for 35¢, fries or ice cream for 25¢, and drinks for 15¢.
Standing directly ahead is one of the fair’s distinctive Entrance Towers, tall geometric markers used to identify the various gateways around the site and help orient visitors as they moved through the fairgrounds.
