This authentic 1960s colour photograph captures a rare moment in London’s culinary history: the short-lived Little Chef restaurant in Queen Mary’s Gardens, Regent’s Park, during 1965. The restaurant featured a striking cluster of modern, dark-tiled pavilions with pointed roofs, designed to blend with the park’s lush surroundings. While the branch opened in 1964, it only operated under the iconic roadside brand for a single year before being renamed the Rose Garden Restaurant in 1965. The scene shows the outdoor terrace filled with stylish yellow mid-century chairs and tables topped with yellow umbrellas, all set against a vibrant border of pink and red roses. A small fountain plays in the background, and a Little Chef flag flies from a tall white pole, adding to the breezy, summer atmosphere of the park. This digital download is a unique record of sixties leisure and garden architecture, perfect to print for yourself as a piece of nostalgic vintage wall art.
