Tucked away in the scenic heart of Argyll and Bute, the Kyles of Bute are a series of narrow sea channels separating the Isle of Bute from the Cowal Peninsula. Renowned for their beauty, the Kyles are designated a National Scenic Area, offering breathtaking views, calm waters, and a deep connection to Scotland’s natural and cultural heritage.
Stretching from Rothesay Bay into Loch Riddon and the Sound of Bute, the Kyles are divided into two arms—East Kyle and West Kyle. The landscape here is a picturesque mix of wooded hills, rugged coastline, and tranquil inlets. Dotted throughout the waters are small islands like the Burnt Islands, one of which, Eilean Buidhe, holds the remains of an ancient vitrified fort.
