On the right is Chancery Lane Underground station.

In the centre stands the Grade II* listed Royal Fusiliers War Memorial (City of London Regiment), unveiled on 4th November 1922. It commemorates the 22,000 soldiers who died in the First World War and marks the historic boundary of the City at Holborn Bar.

The Grade I listed Tudor-style buildings belong to Staple Inn. Heavily damaged during the Second World War by Luftwaffe bombing, they were extensively rebuilt in the postwar years.

Look closely and you’ll spot the trolleybus wires strung across the road.
