Today, this section of Heathrow has been completely transformed by the removal of the old passenger piers and the construction of more advanced terminal facilities designed for modern wide-body aircraft. British Airways has since moved the majority of its operations to Terminal 5, and the Boeing 747 fleet seen here has been retired in favour of more fuel-efficient models like the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350. The vintage ground service vehicles and temporary site offices have long been replaced by permanent structures and a push toward electric-powered airfield transport.
