A 1960s colour photo of the terminal building at Hannover Airport (Langenhagen) in 1963. The image features a large corrugated metal facade with the word “HANNOVER” prominently displayed in block lettering. Today, Hannover Airport has been completely modernised, with the original functional structures of the 1960s replaced by a series of interconnected glass-and-steel terminals (Terminals A, B, and C). While the airport remains a significant base for leisure and business travel in Lower Saxony, the nostalgic open-air viewing terraces of this era have largely been restricted or enclosed for security. The corrugated metal styling has made way for contemporary architecture, though the airport continues to serve as a vital link for international flights, much like it did during the mid-20th century.
