The Python Coaster at Drayton Manor in 1990, seen in a wider view that shows the full compact layout of this mid-1980s looping coaster. Its yellow track twists through tight turns, dips and a vertical loop above the red, blue and white station structure, while the nearby Pirate Ship can be seen to the left in the background. The open foreground, simple fencing and uncluttered surroundings give the scene a very late-1980s and early-1990s park atmosphere, before later expansion filled more of the area with new attractions. The Python closed in the mid 1990s, making this a useful record of one of Drayton Manor’s shorter-lived thrill rides and of the park at a time when its major coasters still sat in relatively open settings.
