A 1980s view of the former Byron Hill Road Baptist chapel at Harrow on the Hill, a stock-brick Gothic building with lancet windows, a small timber louvre and leaded spirelet, seen here in later commercial use with an E. Lloyd & Co. Ltd. sign for liveries and robes fixed across the side elevation. The old chapel’s pointed-arch windows, round gable window and steep slate roofs still give away its ecclesiastical origins, while a blue hatchback is parked beside the low brick wall in front. Built in the early 19th century for the Particular Baptists, the chapel closed in 1906 when a new Baptist church opened in College Road, after which the Byron Hill Road building survived through adaptive reuse rather than demolition.
