This elevated view was taken from one of the gondolas of the Swiss Sky Ride, offering a striking perspective over the Pool of Industry and one of the fair’s most carefully landscaped avenues. The synchronized fountains in the long reflecting pools were a popular feature, especially during evening light shows set to music.
We can see the Rocket Thrower statue lower left, and behind the lake is the Bell Pavilion. To the right we can see the Tower of Light, Johnson Wax Pavilion, and the pavilions of Austria and Japan.
The view captures the fair at its most ambitious: a mixture of futuristic design, entertainment, and carefully planned presentation meant to evoke optimism, technology, and a belief that the future was close at hand—and worth celebrating.
