This authentic 1970s colour photograph, captured in 1978, features the grand exterior of The Worcestershire Hotel located on St Andrew’s Road in Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire. The archival image documents the impressive Victorian-style architecture of the fully licensed establishment, showcasing a pale green facade accented with white decorative timbering and numerous sash windows. A large white signboard in the foreground identifies the business as “The Worcestershire Hotel,” displaying the AA three-star rating and advertising the restaurant and cocktail bar. The building features complex rooflines with multiple brick chimneys and a small cupola at the peak of the right wing. Significant maintenance work is evident, with metal scaffolding erected against the far left gable. The hotel is bordered by mature evergreen hedges and large deciduous trees, including a prominent cedar near the brick-pillared entrance. Although the hotel closed in the 1980s and was eventually demolished after years of abandonment, this factual record preserves its stature as a premier local landmark during 1978.
