Piccadilly Circus, London 1950s

This authentic 1950s colour photograph captures the vibrant energy of Piccadilly Circus, the heart of London’s West End entertainment district. By the 1950s, this theatre had become the Jacey Cartoon Cinema, gaining an infamous reputation for rent boys during this era. The jewellers eventually became H Samuel, and while the cinema transitioned into a soft porn theatre by the 1970s, it was finally closed in 1985 to allow for the expansion of the H Samuel shop.
