This authentic 1950s colour photograph captures a significant public exhibition of RAF aircraft at Horse Guards Parade. The image features two Gloster Meteor jets on display for the public; the aircraft on the left, serial number RA476, was a notable member of the RAF Exhibition Flight. To the right is another Meteor, serial number WD623, a rarer subject in photographic records of this period. Neither of these specific aircraft survived into preservation, making this a rare archival record of their existence. In the background, the grand architecture of the Admiralty Extension and the Old Admiralty Building can be seen under a clear sky, with onlookers in mid-century attire gathered around the planes.
