This authentic 1960s colour photograph captures the bustling atmosphere of Piccadilly Circus in 1968. The image features the iconic Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain with the statue of Eros, surrounded by crowds of people seated on its steps. To the left, the Monico building is dominated by the new “Cinzano The Bianco” sign, which replaced the previous BP advertisement. The Cinzano sign would remain here for the next 10 years. Other legendary displays include “Skol International Lager,” “Gold Leaf” cigarettes, and “Guinness Time.” On the London Pavilion, signs for “Max Factor,” “Gordon’s Gin,” and “Wrigley’s Spearmint” are visible.
