This authentic 1960s colour photograph captures the bustling commercial heart of London at Piccadilly Circus in 1969. The Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain and statue of Eros stand as the focal point, surrounded by a metal safety railing. The London Pavilion displays its famous neon advertisements, including a large “Mon Chéri” billboard, “Max Factor,” “Gordon’s Gin,” and “Daily Express.” Adjacent billboards promote the films “Baby Love” and “Sinful Davey”. The foreground features active period transport, including a red Triumph Spitfire, a black Austin taxi, and a light blue Empire coach. Pedestrians in late-sixties attire are seen crossing the street and resting near the fountain under a pale sky. This digital download is a marvellous record of the city’s vibrant advertising history, perfect to print for yourself as a piece of vintage urban wall art.
