Knightsbridge, London, in 1975, looking west from Scotch Corner with steady traffic heading towards Kensington. The junction is rich in period detail: black London taxis queue in the foreground, a red double-decker bus can be seen farther along the road, and the green direction sign points towards The West A4 (M4), Guildford and Portsmouth (A3). On the left, the corner of Seville Street is clearly marked beside a projecting clock and a sign for the car park entrance, while ahead the long curved frontage of Scotch House dominates the view. The great modern block on the right belongs to Barkers, and the mix of smart terraces, department-store architecture and dense West London traffic makes this a strong snapshot of Knightsbridge in the mid-1970s.
