Piccadilly Circus, London, 1975. This wide view captures the circus at full stretch, packed with traffic, pedestrians and a dense wall of West End advertising. On the left are the great curved hoardings for Skol International Lager, Tic Tac and ITT TV-Radio-Stereo, while further along the street can be seen the tall Marlboro Country panel and a BWIA sign above the junction. On the right, the frontage carries the familiar names Minolta Cameras, Embassy and the Cockney Pride Tavern, with the roundel of Piccadilly Circus Station below. The road itself is full of period detail, including a red double-decker on route 53, a motorcyclist, several saloons and estates, and a pale Ford Capri in the foreground, all framed by the bronze-painted lamp standards, traffic lights and railings that gave the West End its distinctive look in the 1970s.
