The view emphasises the heavy riveted ironwork and dark stone of the bridge interior, giving this famous London landmark a much grittier and more workaday feel than the usual postcard perspective. More than just a view of Tower Bridge, it captures the bridge in everyday use in 1976, with haulage traffic, temporary barriers and ordinary urban movement passing beneath one of the capital’s best-known structures.
