This authentic 1970s colour photograph, captured in 1979, documents the residential and commercial character of Nant-y-Glyn Road in the coastal town of Colwyn Bay, Conwy. Taken from Abergele Road, the archival image features a variety of period-correct British vehicles, including a red Vauxhall Viva 1300 GLS with the registration MJC 364R parked in the foreground, and a red Austin 1100 further up the hill. A large red “Toby Light” delivery truck is seen navigating the incline. On the right, the contemporary facade of The Park pub, featuring mosaic tiling, contrasts with the traditional red-brick Victorian villas and their distinctive turrets visible in the background. The scene includes a pedestrian in flared trousers, a common fashion of the late 1970s, walking past a stone boundary wall. This factual record preserves the everyday streetscape and architectural diversity of Colwyn Bay as it appeared in 1979.
