A quiet street scene in Maentwrog in 1984, with dark stone cottages and shops lining the gently curving road beneath wooded slopes in the background. Maentwrog lies in the Vale of Ffestiniog within Snowdonia National Park, and like much of the village this stretch combines older stone-built vernacular architecture with the lingering atmosphere of a roadside settlement shaped by local slate industry and passing traffic on the route through the valley.
