Corran Halls has been a central part of Oban’s community life since its opening in 1965. Originally built as a civic venue to serve the growing town, it was designed to accommodate a wide range of events—from concerts and theatrical performances to public meetings and social gatherings.

Over the decades, Corran Halls has evolved alongside Oban itself, reflecting the town’s increasing role as a cultural hub in the West Highlands. The hall serves as a multifunctional facility, with main hall seating 650, a full-size stage, studio theatre and café bar. The halls are regularly used as a venue for the Royal National Mod. The Furan Gaelic Centre is based here

In recent years, Corran Halls underwent modernisation to update its facilities and improve accessibility while preserving its role as a key gathering place. Today, it continues to serve as Oban’s premier venue for music, theatre, conferences, and celebrations, maintaining its long-standing tradition as the heart of the town’s cultural and social life.
