Situated in the dramatic landscapes of Glenmoriston on the A87, The Cluanie Inn is a historic Highland retreat overlooking the shores of Loch Cluanie. Originally built around 1787 as a staging post for cattle drovers, the inn has long served as a haven for travellers making their way through this remote stretch of the Northwest Highlands.
Today, The Cluanie Inn is part of the Black Sheep Hotels group and has been stylishly modernised while retaining much of its rustic charm. Its 18 individually decorated rooms blend traditional Highland aesthetics—wooden beams, warm tartans, and log fires—with modern comforts like Jacuzzi baths and pet-friendly accommodation.
The inn’s Cluanie Bar & Kitchen offers hearty mountain fare alongside Indian-inspired dishes, catering to both hungry hillwalkers and passing tourists. Its location makes it a popular base for Munro-baggers, sitting near trails to peaks such as A’ Chrà laig and Mullach Fraoch-choire, as well as the famous Cluanie Horseshoe ridge walk.
