Aerial view over the western suburbs of Maidenhead, Berkshire in 1969, photographed from an aircraft window while looking south-east across the town. We can see Altwood and Cox Green. The major roadway running from the top to the bottom of the image is the A404 motorway, which at the time terminated just beyond the lower edge of the photograph, shortly before its extension eastwards later in 1969. The diagonal railway line crossing the scene from upper left to lower right is the Great Western Main Line, with Maidenhead station located just outside the frame at the top left. Surrounding housing estates, industrial buildings, and open green spaces illustrate the expanding suburban landscape of the Thames Valley during the late 1960s.
