A close, upward view of the World Trade Center in New York City, photographed in 1971 during the final stages of construction. One of the Twin Towers dominates the frame, its upper floors still incomplete, with cranes visible on the roofline and sections of the exterior cladding unfinished.
The lower portion of the tower shows completed bands of vertical aluminium façade, contrasting with the lighter, temporary protective covering higher up. Older masonry and early 20th-century buildings frame the scene at street level, emphasising the dramatic scale of the new skyscraper as it rose above the existing Lower Manhattan skyline. The photograph documents the World Trade Center at a pivotal moment, shortly before the towers were fully completed and opened.
