Description
This authentic 1970s color photograph, captured in 1975, documents the Le Scoot Log Flume during its inaugural year at Busch Gardens Williamsburg (then known as Busch Gardens: The Old Country) in James City County, Virginia. Located in the New France area of the park, the archival image features a boat plunging down a water chute. The ride’s distinctive upper station is designed as a rustic, multi-story wooden sawmill, blending into the dense deciduous forest of the surrounding ravine. At the time of this photo, the area was characterized by its secluded, naturalistic setting, years before the construction of the Alpengeist roller coaster which now towers adjacent to the flume’s layout. Designed by Arrow Dynamics, Le Scoot was one of the park’s original thrill attractions, capitalizing on the rugged terrain of the Virginia woodlands. Today, the ride is still standing and remains a beloved classic attraction at the park, having undergone several thematic and structural updates over the decades to maintain its status as a staple of the New France section. This factual record captures the early, pristine landscape of one of America’s most beautifully landscaped theme parks. All our images are available as royalty-free instant downloads for use in books, media, and creative projects – or make your own prints for home, work, or as a truly unique gift.
